The Santavicca farm is a small farm located in Barisciano, a town of 1800 inhabitants immersed in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park at almost 1000 m. a.s.l..
The traditional method of cultivation follows the system of organic farming, which guarantees high quality products in full respect of nature.
From the mountain land, up to 1400 meters above sea level, they produce excellent products such as the famous lentils of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, the turquoise potato and the ancient cereals (wheat of solina, rosciola and spelt).
In the lands downstream of the village, on the Navella plateau, the Santavicca farm cultivates the world-famous PDO Eagle Saffron, and other crops such as buckwheat, borlotti beans, poor beans, roveglie and white chickpeas.
The Santavicca Dante farm is part of the network of farmers who are the guardians of the Park, a project promoted by the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park for the protection of local varieties of cereals, legumes, vegetables and herbs throughout the protected area.
